Economic woes have battered pension plans, report warns

Phrases that I want banned

THIS BEING the new year, it’s time to review some of the words that made us gag in 2008.

In fact, let’s do more than review. Let’s give them a special award. We’ll call it the Annual Gag-Me-With-a-Rototiller Awards, or GagMe’s for short. Winning criteria include overuse, obfuscation, insincerity and, of course, making us all cringe. Politicians — surprise, surprise — hogged the prizes in the first annual GagMe Awards. But business jargon users ran a close second, the news media a third for repeating and thus encouraging their use and abuse.
