AUS Stars of the Week
We'll start with the women this time in the last week of action before the Christmas break. Kelsey Hodgson, Cape Breton. The fourth-year guard from Fredericton continued her torrid scoring pace this weekend, dropping 32 points on the UNB Varsity Reds in an 83-50 Cape Breton win. Hodgson averaged 24.2 points per game in November, leading the league by more than six points per game. In fact, she leads the entire CIS by almost five points per contest. It's still early in the season, of course, but right now Hodgson is on pace to have the highest scoring average since Theresa MacCuish in the early 1990s. Even former Memorial superstar Jenine Brown never averaged more than 23 points per game over the course of a season. Honourable Mentions - Victoria Thistle, Memorial: 27 points, 10-13 shooting, 8 rebounds in 73-66 win over Acadia.
- Sondra Medley, Acadia: 24 points, 5 rebounds, 2 blocks in 73-66 loss to Memorial.
- Tory Anderson, St. F.X.: 19 points, 8-12 shooting, 3 steals in 88-65 win over UPEI.
Jason Shepherd, Memorial. Shepherd, a second-year swingman from Black Rock, Kings County, has been a standout for the rejuvenated Sea-Hawks. He had 27 points, 7 assists and 7 rebounds in a 103-89 win over Acadia on Sunday, knocking down 4-of-5 three-point attempts as well. He's averaging a team-high 14.5 points per game for the Sea-Hawks. He also had 21 points on efficient 8-for-12 shooting in Saturday's 109-69 loss to the Axemen. Honourable Mentions - Ikeobi Uchegbu, Saint Mary's: 30 points, 10 rebounds, 4 steals in 76-71 loss to St. F.X.
- Casey Fox, Acadia: 23 points, 6-9 three pointers, 3 steals in 109-69 win over Memorial.
- Scott Jaspers-Fayer, Cape Breton: 16 points, 16 rebounds, 3 blocks, 3 steals in 75-65 win over UNB.

AUS weekend review: Leo's Return
Acadia fans got some good news this weekend as Leonel Saintil saw his first action of the season, though his presence was still only enough to get the Axemen a split at Memorial as they dropped a 103-89 decision to the Sea-Hawks today. It always surprises me that a team can beat another team by 40 and then lose to the same squad on back-to-back days. But Saturday's and Sunday's games were like mirror images of each other. On Saturday, the Axemen hit 14 threes - a league high so far this season - and shot 56 per cent from the floor on the game. Meanwhile Memorial shot 36 per cent and .

CIS Top 10 Tuesday / Weekend Preview
Before we get to the rankings, here's an update on this week's schedule: Saint Mary's will travel to St. F.X. on Wednesday to make up their game that was cancelled on Sunday. So the Huskies will get a game after all this week. No makeup date has been set for SMU vs. Acadia, which will be bumped on Friday as Acadia heads to Memorial for makeup games on Saturday and Sunday. Got all that? Now on to the polls: WOMEN'S BASKETBALL (regular season record) / (votes) / (previous rankings) - Simon Fraser (8-1) / 472 pts / (1)
- Regina (7-1) / 424 / (2)

AUS Stars of the Week
Before we get to the stars from a truncated week of action in the AUS, here's an update on those postponed games: Acadia is now heading to Memorial this weekend to play on Saturday and Sunday, which means the Axemen won't host Saint Mary's on Friday night. It's understandable that the league wants to get those games at Memorial in, as it's a tougher trip to make up than an hour's drive for Saint Mary's down to Wolfville. But the Huskies do get kind of a raw deal here; they already lost a game against St. F.X. last weekend, so now they have two to make up. They'll go into the semester break .

AUS weekend notes
There were fewer games than anticipated this weekend after Saturday's storm cut the schedule almost in half. Saint Mary's at St. F.X. was bumped after the Huskies' game at Cape Breton was pushed back to today, and Acadia's two-game swing at Memorial was also postponed. It's an annual event that Memorial either gets stuck on the island or teams can't get to Newfoundland, but it rarely happens in November. But the action still went on in other places, including a barn-burner between the Capers and Huskies today. Saint Mary's trailed by 14 points after a sluggish first quarter and were .

CIS Top 10 Tuesday / Weekend Preview
I was out of the office last Tuesday and didn't have a chance to post, so I missed the UBC Thunderbirds' brief reign atop the men's Top 10. The T-Birds ended Carleton's run of 16 straight polls at No. 1 dating back to last season after the Ravens opened the regular season with a loss to Windsor, but UBC lost in Regina this week and has slipped back to No. 2. Further commentary on the polls below: WOMEN'S BASKETBALL (regular season record) / (votes) / (previous rankings) - Simon Fraser (6-1) / 484 pts / (1)
- Regina (5-1) / 428 / (4)
- Windsor (5 .
